Abstract

893,935. Sorting letters; endless conveyers. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. June 15, 1960 [June 15, 1959], No. 21092/60. Class 78 (1). A coding device (not shown) in letter sorting apparatus actuates a release key (not shown) to allow a letter to fall from a waiting position C on to a star wheel 4 (position B). The letter is now in a reading position in which the coding device keys a particular letter sequence and thereafter again actuates the release key. The star wheel 4 is turned through one division so that the letter takes up the position A at the same time as a further letter is released from position C. A conveyer belt 1 having projecting pins 2 is then set in motion to laterally shift a letter to a printing device (not shown).
