Abstract

879,116. Bearings. AVERY Ltd., W. & T. Feb. 11, 1958 [Feb. 16, 1957], No. 4350/58. Class 12 (1). In a radially yielding bearing arrangement a bearing body 3 has integral disc-shaped resilient members 4, 5 and is secured in a cylindrical recess in a bearing upright 2 by means of a halved distance ring 6 and an annular nut 7. The resilient members 4, 5 having openings 10, converge inwardly so that their projections meet at apices co-incident with the longitudinal axis of the bearing. The body 3 has a bearing metal insert 9, alternatively it could accommodate, or itself form, the outside ring of a roller bearing. In a modification separate resilient disc-shaped members are secured to annular ribs on the bearing upright and on the bearing body. In a further modification, Fig. 5, the mounting comprises bearing upright and bearing body halves 211<SP>1</SP>, 211<SP>11</SP> and 311<SP>1</SP>, 311<SP>11</SP> respectively, the latter having integral resilient disc members 411<SP>1</SP>, 511<SP>1</SP> and 411<SP>11</SP>, 511<SP>11</SP>. The bearing body halves have part spherical inner faces which receive correspondingly shaped bush elements 16<SP>1</SP>, 16<SP>11</SP> which accommodate any tilting movement.
