In a selective signalling system for transmitting a succession of binary bits the 1st, 3rd, 5th and odd numbered bits are transmitted over a first pair of mark and space channels and the 2nd, 4th, 6th and even numbered bits are transmitted over a second pair of mark and space channels. This permits a check to be made on received data and the system is said to be particularly useful in signalling from aircraft to a central station. Specifications 665,135 and 852,873 are referred to.
