851,844. Coated abrasive products. RAYBESTOS-MANHATTAN Inc. June 3, 1959 [June 4, 1958], No. 19005/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 60. A coated abrasive product comprises a flexible backing, a flexible and stretchable abrasive binder coat on a face of the backing, and a layer of abrasive grains adheringly embedded in the binder coat, the binder coat comprising an elastomeric film possessing an elongation in the range of 400 to 700%. The flexible backing may comprise a sized cotton twill sheet, sized craft paper sheet or a polyester e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, polyvinylidene chloride, or cellulose ester. The binder coat may be a cured non-foaming polyel-isocyanate e.g. alkyd, polyester or polyether containing free hydroxyl groups such as polyethylene glycol adipate and a di-isocyanate, or urethane, which may be cross-linked by amines or dichlorobenzidines, which in film form may have a tensile strength in the range of 4000 to 7000 p.s.i., and a shore A Durometer hardness of 50 to 80.
