Abstract
848,204. Hypodermic syringes. JULLIARD, M. Oct. 4, 1956. No. 30361/56. Class 81(2). The piston of a hypodermic syringe is advanced by external rotary power means and the direction of the needle, relative to the syringe axis, is adjustable. The plunger 12 is prevented from rotating by a key 11 and is advanced by means of a thread 12 engaged by a half-nut 21, rotated by a worm wheel 17 and worm 18, connected to an external flexible drive. The half-nut is mounted on a pin 20 so that it can be lifted clear of the threads and the plunger can be actuated by hand. During power operation movement of the plunger in either direction is limited by unthreaded portions 13, 14. The needle 8 is mounted in a synthetic rubber ball 7 and projects through a slot in an end cap 5, retained by a ring nut. When the cap is loosened, the angularity of the needle may be adjusted and it may also be turned about the axis of the syringe body.
