Abstract
828,530. Beverage making machines. JESSEL, J. G. April 27, 1956 [May 25, 1955], No. 15114/55. Class 129. [Also in Group XXIX] A beverage making and dispensing machine comprises a reservoir 2 to which heated liquid is supplied, to form a beverage with beverage forming material, through a valve device 4 which is opened by actuating means 5, 6, 7 when a supporting float device 8 in the reservoir falls, on withdrawal of liquid through dispensing means 11, and is allowed to close when the float returns to its normal position. As shown, a perforated container 1 for drip tea or the like is mounted on the upper part of cylindrical reservoir 2. The dispensing means 11 may be as described in Specifications 617,171 or 828,529. The heated liquid is supplied through a central pipe 3 under control of a needle valve 4 spring-loaded to its closed position and passes through apertures 9 to the container 1. A sleeve member 5 is slidable on the upper part of pipe 3 and supports a weighted assembly 6 comprising a small chamber with a central stem 7 which engages the needle of valve 4 when the level of the liquid and hence the float 8 which engages sleeve 5 and supports the weighted assembly falls. A floating valve needle may be provided instead of the spring- loaded one.
