Abstract

825,148. Washing-machines. PARNALL (YATE) Ltd. Aug. 30, 1957 [Sept. 26, 1956], No. 29460/56. Class 138 (2). A washing-machine, with a solid wall container 1 for the washing and mounted for reciprocatory or rotary motion selectively, comprises, integrally formed with it, or fixedly mounted on its base, an agitator 2 consisting of paddles 3 less in radius than the bottom of the container. A row of holes 6 permits egress of water during rotation for spindrying. The container and agitator may be a one-piece moulding of synthetic resin or of fibre glass bonded with synthetic resin or a metal casting. Formed separately the agitator 2 may be of metal, and it may be shaped to house an electrical heating element, whereas a short or a considerably longer vertical projection may be at its centre. The container, agitator and a driving shaft may form a unit construction.
