Abstract
821,251. Photographic materials. GEVAERT PHOTO-PRODUCTEN N.V. May 13, 1957 [June 7, 1956], No. 17649/56. Class 98(2) Direct positive photographic emulsions are fogged with a silane compound containing at least one Si-H group. The compound may be added in alcoholic solution or adsorbed on finely divided inert particles of silica, magnesium silicate or barium sulphate. In the examples, methyl di-chlor silane or tri-chlor silane are added to the emulsion prior to ripening in weakly alkaline conditions at a slightly elevated temperature. The emulsion is subsequently acidified and cooled and a desensitizer added so that an image-wise exposure to yellow light using the Henschel effect gives the direct positive; In one example the desensitizer is 2-thiol- 3-nitrophenyl-4-methyl-6-dimethyl 1 pyrimidine. A further desensitizer is specified. The use of known pre-fogging agents such as hydrazine, hydroxylamine, formaldehyde and stannous chloride, salts of gold palladium, platinum, iridium, ruthenium or strontium, sodium thiosulphate and thiosinamixie are referred to.
