820,500. Lamp lenses. EVER READY CO: (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd., and WORBOYS, A. F. April 9, 1957 [May 22, 1956], No. 15865/56. Class 75(2) A composite lens for an electric lamp, especially a vehicle lamp, comprises a plano-convex lens 5, a plane lens 6 surrounding this and an outer lens 7 surrounding the plane lens and having an interior face 9 such that light striking the surface normally is internally reflected to pass radially outwards substantially in the plane of the composite lens. The plano-convex lens 5 and plane lens 6 may be formed with equally spaced concentric ridges. The plano-convex lens may be so curved as to concentrate the parallel rays of the reflector into a cone of about 20 degrees semi-angle. The composite lens may be constructed by cementing the several parts together or may be moulded in one piece out of transparent plastic material, and may be combined with a reflector in a single unit.
