813,165. Spring-mounted seats. BREMSHEY, F., and EICKHORN, K. H., [trading as BREMSHEY & CO.]. Nov. 1, 1957 [Nov. 6, 1956], No. 34186/57. Class 52(1) A vehicle seat 15 has a base frame 10 and a seat frame 13 connected together by a displaceable parallelogram linkage including two guide rods, vertical movements being dealt with by a spring-loaded hydraulic piston and cylinder, either the piston rod or the cylinder being constituted by one guide rod, the cylinder or piston being connected to the other. As shown in Fig. 1, lower guide rod 19 carries piston 24 and the cylinder 25 is adjustably mounted on a screw-threaded part 29 of upper guide rod 18. Piston 24 is apertured 33 and the cylinder is influenced by a spring 32. As shown in Fig. 2, cylinder 49 is pivoted 51, 53 to frames 10, 13 and constitutes the lower guide rod; piston 54 is carried by rod 55 connected to upper guide rod 48 by an extension 56 of the latter, the connection being adjustable by nut 68. By operation of handle 70, the position of piston 54 on the threaded end of rod 55 can be varied. In arrangements (not shown), an additional spring comes into play under heavy loads, larger piston apertures are used for passage of fluid due to downward motion of the seat than for upward motion, and that guide rod which is not the cylinder may be channel-shaped partially embracing the cylinder. The cylinder may constitute the upper guide rod. The seat may be mounted to face either way.
