Abstract

786,105. Valves: fuel injectors. SBAIS. A. July 6, 1955 [july 23, 1954], No. 19474/55. Classes 7(3) and 7(6) A part - spherical rotary or oscillating valve 1, Figs. 1 and 2, is mounted on a hollow shaft 3<SP>1</SP> in a cylinder head having aligned inlet and outlet passages 5, 7 disposed transversely of the cylinder and controlled by cavities 14 in the valve cooling fluid being circulated through the shaft 3<SP>1</SP> to the hollow interior 20 of the valve. The valve is sealed by sealing rings 13, which may be spring-loaded, and lubricating oil is fed through connections to the valve bearings 12. In Fig. 5, the valve 1, in addition to controlling the inlet and exhaust passages, has a passage 17 controlling the injection of fuel from a nozzle 15 into the engine cylinder.
