Abstract

785,858. Photosensitive element and process for preparing printing relief images therefrom. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. I. Jan. 11, 1956, No. 1027/56. Addition to 741,294. Class 98(2) A layer of an ethylenically unsaturated photopolymerizable. composition containing a photocatalyst therefor is carried on a transparent sheet support, the other side of which is provided with a layer containing an antihalation material. The first mentioned layer comprises the materials of the parent Specification and, likewise, may be of liauid, gel or solid consistency. Exposure under a negative and removal of unexposed areas produces printing images therefrom. Any dye or pigment dispersed in a binding agent may be used to form the antihalation laver and numerous such materials, generally the same as those of the parent Specification and Specifications 741,441. 741,470 and 780,218, which have antihalation layers in different positions or on different supports, are quoted. Carbon black in an ethanol polyvinvl alcohol solution is used to form the antihalation layer in a first example, and lamp black with zinc tetroxy chromate and asbestos fibres in a polyvinyl butyral resin composition in a second.
