Abstract

775,135. Wringer mops. BLUM, J. Oct. 29, 1954 [Sept. 6, 1954], No. 31323/54. Class 19 In a wringer mop of the type comprising a sponge pad 3 which for wringing is pulled through rollers 5 Fig. 2, or their equivalent, one or both rollers is attached to the holder 2 by means of hinged links having cam-shaped extensions 20 which engage the pad holder 4 in wringing, so that the rollers are forced into engagement with the pad 3. The front limb of the U-shaped roller holder 2 is longer than the rear limb and may be provided with brackets 12 to which a brush or squeegee can be attached. The rollers, as in the embodiment of Fig. 8, may be replaced by rolled-up metal strips 6 integral with the supporting links and links 22 be provided whereby the rolled-up ends of the strips 6 are forced into engagement with the pad 3. The pad 3 is clamped in a U-shaped holder 4 which is attached by screws 9 to bent-cut end portions of links 7, the other ends of which are attached to a wringing handle (not shown). Alternatively, Fig. 11 (not shown) the pad holder may be fixed to the mop handle 1, the roller holder then being formed with a sleeve portion so as to be slid along the handle for wringing. The pad holder, Fig. 12, comprises a V-shaped channel, one limb of which 29 is hinged to allow of removal of the pad 3; clips 31 retain the holder closed The pad is retained by inbent tongues 27 which engage slots cut in the pad.
