Abstract

771,482. Photographic printing apparatus. STALLARD, J. F. March 21, 1955 [March 19, 1954], No. 8118/54. Class 98(1) A portable apparatus for projection or contact printing comprises a case 10 with a detachable front (not shown) and lid 12, having compartments 15, 17 for a contact printing frame 37, sensitive papers, chemicals, measuring jars, thermometer, clips and any other equipment required. Between these compartments is a central section 16 open at the top and supporting a cabinet 18 slidable on ledges 19, 21. Below these compartments are stored an enlarger head 25 on a shelf 24, a contact printing lamphouse 31 and dishes 29 (see Fig. 1). For use as an enlarger, the lid 12 is removed and the enlarger head 25 placed over the opening in the central section 16 as shown in Fig. 2. The lens 35 carried on a board,. is inserted on suitable ledges 34 in the cabinet 18. The negative is held in the carrier 36 and the shelf 24 is placed on suitable ledges 23 to support the printing frame. By selecting the appropriate ledges 34, 23 varying degrees of enlargement can be obtained. For contact printing, the cabinet is removed and the enlarger head 25 is replaced by the lamphouse 31 which contains two bulbs and illuminates the frame 37 through the aperture in section 16. The lamphouse 31 is provided with a curved upper surface 32 and a blanket 33 so that it can be used for drying the prints, for which purpose it may be used on or off the case 10.
