Abstract

765,801. Coffee machines. MERIALDI, D. Aug. 6, 1954, No. 17731/54. Class 129 [Also in Group XXVIII] In an " espresso" type coffee machine the piston is actuated by a self-locking cam arrangement. The actuating lever a is pivoted at d to a hook-shaped extension e of the piston rod f. The piston rod f passes through a fixed plate l and is surrounded by a compression spring m. A pair of rollers, one of which is shown at b, is journalled on a extension j of the lever a and is supported on a pair of blocks c (one either side of member e). When lever a is moved clockwise, the rollers b slide to the left and the piston is raised, until at top dead centre, the axis of roller b is vertically below the pivot d and the system is again in stable equilibrium.
