Abstract

763,290. De-magnetizing apparatus. MINCHOM, R. I. June 8, 1955 [June 24, 1954], No. 18576/54. Class 35. De-magnetizing apparatus comprises a permanent magnet rotated between two polepieces from which extend two separate arms on which the article to be de-magnetized can be placed. As shown, the arins 18, 19 are on rods 20, 21, each of which extends through a polepiece 12, 13 between which the magnet 10 is rotated by a motor 24 coupled thereto directly or by a coupling which enables the magnet to continue to rotate due to its own inertia after the motor has been de-energized. An adjustable shunt may be provided and the magnet could alternatively be driven by clockwork.
