Abstract
752,953. Spring suspensions; adjusting body height; arrangement of sheets and axles. CAFFA, L. May 20, 1954 [May 21, 1953], No. 14781/54. Class 108 (2). In a three-wheel vehicle, the road wheels are adjustable to assume various heights relative to one another and to the vehicle chassis frame and all three wheels are steerable. As shown, the vehicle comprises a single front wheel 7 and a pair of rear wheels 8, 9, all or any of which are steerable and each of which is carried on an arm 4, 5 or 6 pivoted to the chassis frame 1. The arms are adjustable by means of hydraulic jacks 10 are are independently sprung. A body 12 is connected to the chassis frame 1 and is supported at its rear end on the arms 5 and 6 by spring blades and links 14. The vehicle is driven by an engine 15, which may also be used to operate the jacks. The wheels may be driven singly, jointly or in pairs and the drive to any of them may be disconnected. A driving cab may be mounted in a position such that the driver always faces the direction of travel of the vehicle.
