751,929. Valves. ELECTROL, Inc. Sept. 7, 1954 [Sept. 29, 1953], No. 25951/54. Class 135. A pressure relief valve has the valve member 24 carried in a cage 39 guided loosely in a retainer 28 having fluid passages 30 and an opening 31 through which a spring-loaded plunger 41 engages a ball 45 between the plunger and the cage. A ported hollow screw 32 holds a seat ring 21 in engagement with the bottom of the retainer which fits in a fixed spider 18. Sticking of the valve due to tilting of plunger 41 is prevented by ball 45, and valve chattering is prevented by the dash-pot action of liquid flowing between the cage and retainer and between the ball 45 and the retainer.
