Abstract

727,988. Friction grip fastenings. FERROCONCRETE (LANCASHIRE), Ltd., SHEPHERD, R. J., and CHARLTON, E. March 25, 1953 [April 1, 1952], No. 8232/52. Class 44. A gripping device for wires &c. comprises an outer collar 13, an expansible lining 10 within the collar so as to be restrained thereby, and a wedge 14 adapted to be driven into the lining, the wire being between the wedge and the lining, or between the lining and the outer collar. Preferably the lining comprises two or more parts and is provided with a groove 15, Fig. 5, for the reception of the wire 16. The lining may be externally tapered, and the collar similarly internally tapered. Flanges 11, 12 may be provided at the ends of the lining.
