Abstract
721,976. Sound reproducing circuits. FERGUSON RADIO CORPORATION, Ltd. July 20, 1953 [Aug. 11, 1952], No. 20198/52. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (4). A resistor and a capacitor are connected in series between the input terminals of a conetype moving-coil loudspeaker, the resistor having a resistance R substantially equal to the effective resistance of the speech coil of the loudspeaker, and the capacitor having a capacity C such that 1/(2#foC) is substantially equal to R, where fo is the frequency at which the resistance R and the reactance 2#foL of the speech coil are equal. This is shown to result in a constant and purely resistive load for frequencies above the resonant frequency of the loudspeaker. Two such arrangements associated with loudspeakers for reproducing relatively high and relatively low frequencies respectively may be fed via a constant resistance cross-over network.
