Abstract

701,999. Motor cycles. NORTON MOTORS, Ltd. Aug. 16, 1951 [May 29, 1951], No. 12540/51. Class 79(3) [Also in Group XXVII] In a motor-cycle the main fuel supply is carried in one or more depending tanks extending downwardly either centrally or one on each side of the frame, means being provided for feeding the fuel from the depending tank or tanks to a relatively small header tank at a higher level. As shown the fuel tanks j depend downwardly on the sides of the engine (not shown) and the fuel is supplied from these to the header tank h (see Group XXVII) by pressure or suction, the cycle frame being employed high-pressure air as a reservoir in the supply system shown in Fig. 5 (not shown). Each tank j is curved at k to deflect air on to the engine and is formed with a recess l, conforming to the outline of the rider's leg, the surface of the recess being covered with rubber or fitted with rubber pads to form knee grips.
