Abstract

701,036. Moving signs. TALKAVERTS, Ltd. May 9, 1951 [May 19, 1950; Feb. 6, 1951], Nos. 12546/50 and 2880/51. Class 3(1) [Also in Group XXXVIII] Display apparatus comprises a figure or object 11 in combination with a loudspeaker 17 by means of which sounds produced at a remote point may be made to emanate from the figure, the figure having one or more parts 14-16 mounted for movement by electromagnets 24, the current for which is controlled by a chattering or trembling contact connected to a diaphragm 19 on which sounds from the loudspeaker can impinge. The loudspeaker may be energized from a gramophone or a microphone and is contained in the head of a model together with the diaphragm 19 and its chattering contact (see Group XXXVIII). The electromagnets 24 are supplied through a relay which is controlled by the chattering contact. The armature 24b of one electromagnet is connected to the upper lip 15 of the model through a pivoted lever 36 and the armature 24a of the other electromagnet is connected to the lower lip 16 and to the eyes 14 through pivoted levers 36 and 30, 32 respectively. The lips are thereby caused to open and close and the eyes to move from side to side. The chattering contact may also be made as described in Specification 206,102, [Class 38(v)].
