Abstract
667,188. Electric selective signalling systems. STORE NORDISKE TELEGRAFSELSKAE AKTIESELSKAB. April 1, 1949. [April 2, 1948] No. 8973/49. Drawing to Specification. Class 40 (i). [Also in Group XL (c)] In a radio remote control system employing a carrier modulated by different low, e.g. audio, frequencies, the receiver comprises a chain of two or more relays 20 each controlled by a separate amplifier 18 responsive to one only of the frequencies and each relay has a holding circuit 22 connected over a contact 25 of any preceding relay, a control, e.g. alarm, circuit 32, 34 being closed when all contacts 30 of the relays have been connected up. If 10 modulation frequencies and three relays at called stations are used one of any 1,000 stations may be called. The amplifiers and relays being connected in parallel, operation of more than one relay each responsive to the same frequency at a station is avoided by making the duration of a call frequency less than twice, e.g. one and half times, the time delay of operation of an amplifier and relay, each amplifier screen grid circuit being connected up over a contact on any preceding relay. A further amplifier and relay responsive to a further tone may be arranged to call all the stations simultaneously. A frequency-modulated carrier may be used, and a squelch circuit, operated by the difference between rectified voltages derived from noise signals after the discriminator and from the carrier wave at the limiter, which operates a relay opening all the chain relay holding circuits if the carrier does not sufficiently exceed the noise level.
