Abstract
661,589. Displaying. SPACKMAN. C. April 1, 1949, No. 8875/49. Class 3(i) [Also in Group XXXV] An electromagnetic motor, which is used for driving display apparatus and which may be of A.C. or interrupter type, comprises a driving wheel 17 and an oscillating arm 23, 24 pivoted on the same axis and having a friction clutch 28 at each end engaging the periphery of the wheel, the stroke or frequency of the arm's vibration being adjustable to vary the motor speed. The driving wheel, which carries a turntable 19 on which display articles may be placed is pivoted on bearings 13, 14 and has a groove 18 round its periphery for the reception of the spring-loaded ball or plunger 32 of the ratchet, the oscillating arm member being free to turn on a central pedestal 12. Secured beneath the arm 23 is an armature 34 co-operating with the electromagnet 35, and beneath the arm 24 a resilient abutment pad 37. This pad oscillates between buffers 41 which are adjustable by a knob 49 to adjust the speed or amplitude of vibration. Alternatively the speed may be adjusted by rheostatic control. A clutch 58 connects a spindle 55 with the driving wheel, and other spindles 56 driving a series of display articles may be driven through gearing 57.
