Abstract

648,055. Meshing screw compressors and engines. AKTIEBOLAG IMO-INDUSTRI. Nov. 15, 1948, No. 29611. Convention date, Nov. 19, 1947. [Class 110(ii)] A compressor comprises a number of meshing screws 1, 3, 4 having at its pressure end an end wall 6 having a discharge channel 26 and a valve member 23 fixed at the end of one screw in each meshing pair. The valve has running clearance with the end wall and contains at least one port 25 for each helicoidal groove 24 in its rotor so placed that it is open to the channel 26 during part of a rotor revolution. The valve member may be attached to the inner rotor. It allows compressed gas to be discharged without obstruction and prevents its escape into other portions of the screws. A similar valve disc 28 may be used at the suction end having ports co-acting with an inlet chamber 30.
