[Classes 18 and 66] A paperboard carton or bottle, having substantially flush and unrecessed side, top and bottom walls, has the top wall formed by overlapping flaps 13, 14, Figs. 3 and 4, which are cut and scored to provide relatively independent means that can be displaced to provide filling and dispensing openings respectively. The carton shown is made by folding a blank about inwardly directed score lines to form a tube which is then closed at the top by flaps 13, 14, together with short end flaps, and at the bottom by a dished insert 3 that is covered by flaps 10, 11, Figs. 9 and 11. The flap 13 has cuts 15, 17 defining disc and keystone portions 16, 18, which are left attached to the body of the flap by readily breakable ties 16a, 18a respectively, and the corresponding areas of flap 14 have a U-shaped cut 20, defining an ear 22, and crease and cut lines 24, 26 defining a dispensing flap 28. When the flaps 13, 14 are closed, the presence of adhesive causes portions 22, 28 to adhere to portions 16, 18 respectively so that they can be lifted together to gain access to the interior. On completion of the top closure, the lid 22-16 is opened from within and the bottom is then closed by inserting the base portion 3, Figs. 9 and 11, and folding in the bottom flaps 10, 11, the flanges of the insert being connected to the carton walls by adhesive. The carton is thereafter coated inside and outside with paraffin which serves to provide a leak-proof fit between the lid 22-16 and the body. For dispensing the contents, the flap 28 is torn along score lines 25, 24 extending from a central slit 26. The connection between the flap portions 18, 28 may be reinforced by a staple 28a and the lid 22-16 may be covered by a sealing strip which may bear printed matter.
