Abstract

631,472. Cartons. BAMBER, W. Jan. 23, 1947, No. 2177.. [Class 18] One pair of opposite flaps of a tubular carton are provided with tongues and the other pair with notches, the arrangement being such that the notchedflaps 17, 19 may be folded inwardly and the tongued flaps 16, 18 pressed down onto them until the tongues engage the notches. The released flaps spring back into interlocked engagement. A label' may seal the closure. The flaps may completely close the carton end or may leave a central gap for inspection of or access to contents. The closure may be associated with a carton having a top end closure suitable for accommodating the necks of bottles and the like. The top closure flaps are integral, opposite flaps 22, 24 having rectangular notches at their free edges and being scored to fold inwardly to engage the neck of the bottle. One of the other opposite flaps may have a tuck-in extension 26 to close the top of the container.
