[Class 116] Liquid, e.g. beer, is drawn from a reservoir 1 by an electrically driven pump 4 and forced thereby past a check-valve 14 to a nozzle 7 the flow being controlled by a manually operated tap 8. The extended stem of the tap 8 carries a cam 8b which on rotation when the tap is opened acts directly or through a plunger 12 to close a switch 9 in the pump motor circuit. The switch may be encased in waterproof resilient material 13. The nozzle, switch operating plunger and a short branch pipe may be mounted on a panel 6a to form a readily removable unit secured to the counter 6 by screws with knurled heads 6d and to the delivery pipe 5 by a union 5a. A number of nozzles each with its own branch pipe and plunger operating a separate switch may be mounted on a panel. Branch pipes 15 may feed to nozzles &c. in different rooms in a building and each such branch pipe may have a separate check valve 15 instead of one only being provided as shown. A liquid meter may be provided in each of some or all the pipes. As shown in Fig. 2 an auxiliary valve 22, 23 operated by a knurled knob 25 may be mounted in the nozzle 7 in the delivery side of the tap to control the condition of the beer being delivered, a check valve 20 also being provided. The auxiliary valve may be a barrel member fitting closely within the nozzle and having a hole in its periphery adapted on rotation of the barrel member to be brought into and out of register with the opening in the vertical part of the nozzle. When a single nozzle only is provided a variable resistance may be incorporated in the motor circuit to control the rate of flow in which case an auxiliary valve is unnecessary. Also, when a single nozzle is provided, a timing device may be incorporated in the motor circuit whereby a measured quantity may be delivered. For cleaning purposes the short pipe length between the nozzle and pipe 5 is made as straight as possible and where a bend is unavoidable a cleaning orifice is provided, closed by a plug 5b.
