Abstract
591,730. Resilient mountings. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., GRAY, T. E. H., and GURNEY, W. A. May 11, 1945, No. 11832. [Class 108 (iii)] An anti-vibration mounting of the co-axial bush type comprises inner and outer bushes 7, 8 connected by a plurality of radial arms of rubber or like material bonded to and inclined to the axis of the bushes and symmetrically arranged in sets around the axis, the arms of each set being staggered and oppositely inclined relatively to the arms of the adjacent set. As shown, the bushes 7, 8 are connected together by four sets 9A, 9B, 9C. 9D of rubber arms of rectangular shape and constant or variable cross-section, the arms being so spaced as to assume a spiral formation. As the arms do not overlap when viewed in an axial direction, the mounting may be produced in a single operation by shaping a rubber &c. composition between mould sections which are brought together axially between the bushes to form arms of the required shape and inclination, and then heating the assembly to vulcanise the composition and bond the arms to the bushes simultaneously. In another construction, the bushes are connected together by two sets of inter-crossing arms.
