[Class 131] An electrically-driven hair-cutting machine of the type in which the stationary cutting comb 11 may be moved in the longitudinal direction of the comb teeth to vary the length to which the hair is cut has two sets of teeth, 12, 13, of different tooth length, on the stationary comb 11 which may be turned to permit either set of teeth to co-operate with the movable cutting comb 3. The comb 11 is pivoted by a pin 14 to a plate 15 which may be moved to adjust the length to which the hair is cut by means of a lever pivoted inside the casing, the end 17 of the lever engaging a recess 16 in the plate 15 and the lever being operated by a hand lever pivoted on the outside of the casing. The comb 11 may be turned about the pin 14 to permit the use of either set 12 or 13 of stationary teeth and is locked in either position by a lid 24 pivoted to the casing at 23 and whose sides engage the flanks of the comb 11. The movable comb 3 is driven from an electric motor (not shown) through shaft 4, worm and wheel 5, 6, levers 7 and 8 and a rockng lever 9 one end of which engages a slide block 10 in a recess in the comb 3. The connections between levers 7 and 8 and levers 8 and 9 respectively engage slots 8<1>, 8" in the lever 8 so that the points of engagement may be varied to vary the position and extent respectively of reciprocation of the comb 3 relatively to the comb 11.
