589,823. Recording-apparatus. LANDIS & GYR SOC. ANON. Nov. 13, 1944, No. 22377. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1943. [Class 106 (iv)] A paper strip 1, unwinding from a roll at a rate depending on time, for use in recording apparatus 7, has a mark 6, beginning at the rolled-up end 5 of the strip of record paper and extending obliquely over part of the length thereof, so that, within the range of the mark 6, the time for which the paper will last can be estimated by observation through a narrow aperture 10 in a cover-plate 9, the aperture 10 being transverse to the direction of motion of the strip 1. The mark 6 may be in the form of a line and may co-operate with a graduated scale on an edge of the aperture 10 or the mark may be in the form of frequent imprints of figures which while appearing through the aperture 10 give an indication of the remaining time.
