Abstract

580,936. Dust separators. BUELL COMBUSTION CO., Ltd., and TYLER, G. B. July 28, 1944, No. 14474. [Class 23] A number of dust-separating units 1 are arranged horizontally or substantially horizontally, the gas entering each from a manifold 21 and being whirled by guide vanes 10. Peripheral dust ports in a part 12 lead to a manifold 13, the gas passing through these ports re-entering 1 through a hole 15a. Cleaned gas is led through a tube 2 in each unit to a collecting manifold 22. Each unit 1 may be supported within a tube 3, which is welded to a wall 4, a sealing ring 8 being provided. Bolts 5 and plates 7 hold the units in position. Two sets of units may be arranged as shown in Fig. 7, plates 9, 9a separating the manifolds 21, 22. The separating plate or plates may be arranged horizontally. Where high temperatures or corrosive gas conditions have to be dealt with, refractory brickwork or cast metals may be used A suction fan for the gases may be used.
