566,493. Reciprocating motors. TRAYLOR VIBRATOR CO. Aug. 5, 1942, No. 10940. Convention date, Nov. 1, 1941. [Class 35] [Also in Groups II, XVII, XXIV and XXX] Vibrating apparatus such as conveyers, screens, packers, &c. are driven by a motor comprising a field magnet structure 40, Fig. 2, carried by the apparatus, and a wound armature 36, carrying an adjustable mass 35 and connected to the field structure by a spring 31. The field structure consists of U-shaped cores and windings 42, and the armature is arranged to reciprocate between the poles 41. A.C., pulsating or mixed current may be used. The spring 31 is composed of laminations clamped at their ends in openings in a frame comprising the members 26, 27, 28, 29, which is secured to the apparatus. The armature consists of a pile of laminations slotted at their edges to take the coil windings 49 which may have two coil sides as shown, or a single side as in Fig. 6 (not shown). In order to provide greater flexibility, the spring may be formed of two sets of laminations 53, 54, Fig. 4, connected at their ends by brackets 55, 56. One set is attached to the armature and the other set is secured to the apparatus by brackets 60. By adjusting the relative strength of the springs, the brackets 55, 56 may be at points of zero amplitude, in which case they may be used as supports for the apparatus, The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a modification, Fig. 8 (Cancelled), in which the armature is clamped to the centre of the springs 63 and drives the apparatus 120. The structure 36, which carries the field magnets and to which the ends of the springs are clamped, is mounted on a base structure 68 through resilient supports 67. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
