[Class 83 (iii)] In a non-rotating work lathe having one or more rotating hollow cutter heads, the work c is fed by two pairs of driven rollers, the front rollers a and rear rollers b being carried on vertical shafts d rotated by worm gearing and mounted in front slides e and rear slides f. The slides are movable on guide bars g which are slidable in fixed supports h, the front slides e carrying nuts p engaged by screws o on spindles n rotatably mounted without axial movement in the supports h. Screwed sleeves m of the same pitch, but opposite hand to the screws o are keyed to the spindles and engage nuts k in yokes secured to the bars g so that rotation of the spindles n will move the slides e and bars g in opposite directions. The rear slides f are attached to the bars g by nuts t thereon engaging screwed spindles s carried by the yokes j, springs v covered by sleeves x supplying a yielding pressure between the yokes and the slides to press the rollers b resiliently against the work. Rotation of the spindles s in the yokes gives an independent adjustment of the rollers b, and the front rollers a may also be resiliently pressed against the work. Similar rollers are arranged at the delivery side of the lathe.
