Abstract

543,645. Armour. HUNT & TURNER, Ltd., and JAMIE, R. C. S. Aug. 7, 1940, No. 12664. [Class 113 (ii)] Armouring is composed of metal laminae 11 spaced apart by a distance which is less than the diameter of the smallest projectile which the armour is likely to encounter, the edges of the laminae facing the on-coming projectiles. The spaces between the laminae may be filled with rubber cushions 10 or corrugated metal springs. The metal laminae may be corrugated or otherwise indented to vary the interposed rubber cushions. The armoured sections are enclosed in suitable casings provided with through bolts. The sections may be arranged in units with the laminations of one unit at right angles to those of adjacent sections. The armouring may be continued with the armouring devices described in Specifications 535,317 and 535,638.
