Abstract

528,289. Containers for live chicks. EBURITE CORRUGATED CONTAINERS, Ltd., and CASTLE, J. May 3, 1939, No. 13208. [Class 18] A ventilated container for live chicks or other young birds is made from a corrugated board blank crimped or scored to provide a bottom 1, Fig. 3, wings 2, 4 with end flaps 6, 7 and 8, 9 and wings 3, 5. The blank is secured in set-up position by stapling and a lining band is positioned around the walls and is spaced from ventilator holes 10, while lugs 11 enter slots 14 in a lid 13, Fig. 4, which also has V-notches for a securing string. Horizontal and vertical spacing of the stacked containers is ensured by the lateral projections on the lid and by the lugs 11. In an alternative form the lid and bottom are integral with one side and the other sides are constituted by a separate blank secured as by stapling.
