Abstract
521,522. Television. KOLSTER-BRANDES. Ltd., and SMYTH, C. N. Nov. 22, 1938, No. 33949. Addition to 520,235. [Class 40 (iii)] The position of the picture image with respect to the screen in the television receiver described in the parent Specification is adjusted by adjusting or inserting a time delay device in the path of a synchronizing pulse train for a time base of the receiver. Television signals at a receiving station are fed to a high-frequency amplifier A and detector B, the output of which is applied through a video frequency amplifier C to a cathode ray tube D. From the detector B signals also pass to an amplitude filter E which separates the synchronizing signals and passes them through a variable time delay device G and thence to the line scanning unit H. The delay device is arranged to produce a delay of from half a line to one and a half lines and is normally set to a delay of one line so that the picture occupies the raster in the normal way and reduction and increase in the delay time move the picture to the right and left respectively. The method may be applied either to the vertical or horizontal positioning of the picture or to both. From the amplitude filter E there is also a direct connection to the frame scannin g time base F.
