Abstract

494,477. Wireless receiving systems. CHART, F. J. (Clay, M. G.) Feb. 4, 1938, No. 3604. [Class 40 (v)] In a noise-suppressing circuit in which the receiver is disabled by the output from a rectifier passing noise peaks, said rectifier is biassed back by the output from a rectifier of longer time constant fed with signals and used also for A.V.C. purposes. As shown an auxiliary I.F. amplifier 6K7 fed from the input of the last main I.F. amplifier 6L7, feeds two diodes in a valve 6H6 the upper of which is an A.V.C. diode with load circuit R2, C2 which is included in the circuit of the lower diode across whose load resistance R4, R7 are developed noise-suppressing potentials which are fed to the third grid of valve 6L7 through choke L4 and condenser C5. In another embodiment a tapped input circuit supplies less input voltage to the suppressor diode than to the A.V.C. diode and these diodes may be duplicated for full-wave rectification.
