Abstract
491,788. Electric vehicles. TUMILTY, H. G. March 3, 1937, No. 6316. [Class 79 (iii)] An electric vehicle comprises a frame 2 within which the motor 9 is arranged, frame runners 1 extending transversely . beyond the sides of the frame, batteries 3 having contacts 7 serving to connect them automatically in circuit in the act of placing the batteries in position on the vehicle, and steel crates 4 for the batteries having side runners 6 coacting with the frame runners 1, the two sets of runners being so constituted and arranged that a truck can be run into position from the side of the vehicle to support a crate from beneath for wheeling out, the crate runners becoming disengaged from the frame runners as soon as the crate is clear of the latter. The batteries may be provided with eithertwo or three contacts 7 to engage insulated pressure contacts 8 on the frame. The runners 1 may be of channel, round, or other section, and the runners 6 may be of T, channel, or hook-like section.
