Abstract
489,442. Anti-dazzle devices. MENGHI, G.B. Jan. 26, 1937, No. 2337. [Class 97 (i)] An anti-dazzle device to be worn by vehicle drivers &c. comprises an arrangement of - in the form of a grill permitting clear vision between the screens when the inclination of the line of sight to the plane of the grille does not exceed a predetermined angle, and providing obscured vision when the said angle is exceeded. The form shown in Figs. 1 and 2 comprises a series of parallel screens 1 separated by clear spaces and mounted in a frame. The distance between the screens is proportioned to their thickness so that they cut off the light when the inclination of the plane of the screens to the line of vision exceeds the angles indicated by 21 and 2<11>. A layer of transparent material may be provided in front of or behind the device, or the spaces between the screens may be filled in with transparent material. Fig. 5 shows a form in which screens are disposed on two sheets of material 5, 6, capable of relative displacement to vary the angle at which light is cut off. The form shown in Figs. 7 and 9 consists of a corrugated plate stamped to form apertures 7. Fig. 10 shows an eyepiece for goggles, having a horizontal and a vertical grille and also a clear portion giving unobstructed vision.
