Abstract

486,713. Ammunition cartridges. ROCCI, G. R. Sept. 16, 1937, No. 25207. [Class 9 (i)] Relates to cartridges for sporting guns and rifles of the kind provided with a pneumatic wad between the propellent charge 3 and the bullet or bullets 4, and consists in separating the powder and the bullet or bullets from the pneumatic wad by means of spacing members to produce a more uniform pressure of the gases and a better acceleration of the bullet or bullets. As shown, the pneumatic wad is formed by two discs 7 separated by a short cylinder 8, and the spacing members 6, 9 of cork or felt are situated between the pneumatic wad and discs 5, 10 respectively. The front spacing member 9 may be replaced by a cup filled with a lubricant protecting the barrel against corrosion by the gases. The cylinder 8 and the disc 10 may be made adherent to the cartridge case 1. The bullets 4 may be mingled with coarse flour and are covered by a pair of discs 11 with a spacing member 12.
