Abstract

483,046. Closures for bottles, cans, and the like. MORRISON, H. O., and ROBERTS, E. D. Oct. 7, 1936, No. 27242. [Class 125 (iii)] To facilitate the removal of lids or closures such as crown-corks from bottles or cans, a collar 1 of metal is placed on the neck of the container before the closure is effected. The collar has an upstanding flange 5, and a down-turned flange 4 which can receive advertising matter. A coin can be inserted in the collar 1 and the closure 6, and a twisting or levering action will force the closure from the neck. The flange 5 may be formed integrally with the collar, and in a modification the collar may be a simple ring. The Provisional Specification states that the collar may be an integral part of the container.
