Abstract

468,427. Electric water - heaters. MATTHEWS, G. E. Aug. 13, 1936, No. 20042 /35. [Class 39 (iii)] A casing 3 in a water tank 1 encloses heating means 6, is open at its base 8 to the tank and is closed at the top 31 except for a hot water outlet pipe 9 leading through the tank and a downwardly extending pipe 10 connected to the upper part of the casing at the side thereof and communicating with the interiors of the casing and of the tank to prevent liquid overflowing the top of the tank. The water inlet pipe 11 to the tank has a valve 12 connected through links 14 with a switch 13 for simultaneously controlling electric heating means 4, which are removable and comprise heating elements 6, sealed in containers 5. The heaters 6 are mounted on a terminal ring located in a head 7 for ready withdrawal from the tank. The tank has a detachable top 2 and may be heated by gas or oil.
