Abstract

452,679. Vehicle doors. WENHAM, G. H., 39, London Road, Bromley, Kent, and PASS, A. H., 373, Euston Road, London. July 20, 1935, No. 20673. [Class 103 (ii)] A motor-car or like vehicle door c adapted to move parallel to the vehicle body is suspended by means of parallel - motion frames a, b or pairs of links which are pivoted at one end to the door, substantially midway between its front and rear edges, and at the other end to brackets d located inside the vehicle body adjacent the rear jamb of the door. In a modification one of the pairs of suspension links or frames is replaced by a controlling link which ensures the parallel movement of the door. When the door is closed the frames occupy a recess therein. Preferably the door is fastened by interconnected latchos on the front and rear edges operable from inside or outside the vehicle. The door may also be locked in a partly-open position, for example by means of a hook rigidly connecting one of the frames to the inside of the door. The door hinges may be slightly out of the perpendicular so that the door may close under its own weight.
