428,161. Coin-freed article-delivery apparatus. MATTHEWS, E., Laveno, Eversley Crescent, Winchmore Hill, London. April 26, 1934, No. 12627. [Class 27] Articles stored in piles ; coin-action, mechanical connection ; fraud, preventing; testing coins.-A drawer 3 for delivering the lowermost of a pile of articles is normally locked by engagement between a rack 7 pivoted at 11, and a catch 6 fixed to the bottom of the drawer. An inserted coin passes down a shoot 13, and rests on a lower part 12a of a recessed cam surface 12 on the rack 7. Upon movement of the drawer, a projecting part 20 at one side thrusts the coin against a stop pin 14 so that the rack is depressed out of engagement with the catch 6. The coin passes under the stop 14, and into engagement with a ledge 16 with continued movement of the drawer, and is finally discharged over the end of the rack, but before the article is accessible, so that the coin cannot be fraudulently employed to effect a second delivery. The stop pin 14 has a tapered head so that adjustment can be made to ensure that the rack just clears the catch 6 when a correct coin is used : undersized coins do not depress the rack sufficiently to free the apparatus. The coin shoot 13 is obstructed by the part 20 of the drawer if it is not thrust fully back. Casings.-The articles are held in position by distance pieces 21 carried by a removable back of the casing.
