Abstract

417,590. Television. ARDENNE, M. VON, 19, Jungfernstieg, Lichterfeld-Ost, Berlin. March 2, 1933, No. 6313. Convention date, March 5, 1932. [Class 40 (iii).] In a cathode-ray receiver, the ray is extinguished during the return path to the beginning of successive pictures. The control potential, which extinguishes the ray, is derived from the potential 3, which deflects the ray from line to line of the image. The deflecting-potential is applied to a condenser 5 and resistance 6 in series, which produce a potential equivalent to the differentiation of the deflecting-potential with respect to time, Fig. 1 (not shown). Alternatively a transformer in series with a resistance may be used, Fig. 3 (not shown). The derived potential controls a rectifying- valve 7, which applies a strong negative bias to the Wehnelt cylinder 2. According to modifications, the derived potential is applied to a grid in the cathode-ray tube 1, or to a deflecting electrode near an aperture in the anode. Specification 392,383 is referred to.
