Abstract

416,680. Driving-chains. HOWARTH, H. W., 131, Horton Grange Road, and WALTER, R., 48, Spencer Road, Lidget Green, both in Bradford. March 22, 1933, No. 8607. [Class 24.] Chains for conveying powdered or granulated substances comprise links, each consisting of a cross-bar c integral with side-bars b, the ends of which have members 3 projecting inwardly to engage members a projecting from the crossbar of an adjacent link. The members a are in the form of hooks, each having a flared slot 2 leading to a circular aperture 4. Engagement of adjacent links can take place when they are positioned substantially at right angles to each other and one link is then slid laterally into engagement with the other. Projections 5 on the members 3 prevent relative lateral movement when the links are in operative position. The lower edge c<1> of each cross-bar is adapted to be in contact with the surface over which the chains travel.
