Abstract

405,912. Electromedical appliances. LITTLE, C. R., 5, Primrose Hill Street, Coventry. Aug. 28, 1933, No. 23807. [Class 81 (ii).] Electromedical apparatus comprises pads containing sulphur which can be held in contact with the user's skin, either directly or through a soft material, and which are adapted to be connected in the lead-in or earth connection of a wireless-receiving set, to ensure the passage through the user of some of the oscillations received by the aerial of the set. The sulphur material may consist of flowers of sulphur bonded by a suitable agent, of rock sulphur melted and moulded, or of other forms of sulphur alone or bonded or mixed with an electric conducting material or material possessing heating properties. Each pad may have a terminal embedded or contacting with the sulphur or the terminal may be insulated from it and from a conducting member in contact with the sulphur. Fig. 2 shows a suitable form of pad with an expansible strap 16 for holding it in contact with the wrist. Fig. 7 shows a pad adapted to be held in the hand. In this construction, the terminal 17 is integral with a conducting tube 26 which is insulated from zinc annuli 24 embedded in the sulphur 18. The apparatus is stated to be especially useful for the treatment of rheumatic diseases.
