Abstract

400,508. Rotary engines. MOINEAU, R. J. L., 7, Rue Lebouis, Paris. March 23, 1933, No. 8843. Convention date, April 29, 1932. [Class 110 (ii).] A rotary pump, engine, or compressor has a rotor 2 and a stator 1 shaped helically on the co-operating surfaces, in which one or both rotor and stator is formed partly, or wholly, of elastic material such as rubber, leather, wood, or the like, and in which one element has one more helical thread than the other. More than one rotor may co-operate with the stator. The rotor is supported on a flexible shaft 4, or connected to two cardan shafts. The rotor may be built up of a central core surrounded by a series of close-fitting discs such as 17, Fig. 6, or coils of wire or textile material. The element 1 may have two helical threads and the rotor 2 one thread, and the pitches may vary. Portions of the rotor may have reversed pitches to secure axial balance. The discs forming a rotor may be split, or fit loosely on the core 2a. The density of the rotor is preferably equal to that of the working fluid, so that the rotor floats.
