Abstract

395,579. Reflectors. HARDY, G. F., 3, St. Phillip's Road, Surbiton, Surrey. Dec. 5, 1932, Nos. 34451/32, 36344/32 and 179/33. [Class 75 (ii).] In a pyramidal reflector provided at its apex with a ventilator carrying an electric lamp holder and comprising triangular pieces of glass or other reflecting material on the inner surface of a metal backing, the latter is built up from triangular sheets of metal which are secured together at their edges. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the backing comprises four triangular metal sheets 2 each having a projection 3 welded or soldered to the edge of the next sheet. The lower edge of each sheet is formed as a rim 4 to receive a triangular piece of plain or hammered reflecting glass 5, the contiguous edges of these glass pieces being engaged by stainless steel or other strips 6 which are soldered or welded to the top and bottom of the metal backing. An opening 7 at the apex of the reflector is bridged by a square or circular ventilator 8 carrying an electric lamp holder 9. Alternatively, the pieces of reflecting material may be secured in position by means of clips formed integrally at the top and bottom edges of the metal backing, and a rubber or other insert may be placed between the reflecting pieces and the bottom clips 14, Fig. 5. Light from the reflector may be coloured to give a daylight or other effect by means of a sheet of tinted transparent material 16 held in position by guides or clips 15 formed integrally with or secured to the metal backing.
